Pregnancy Rela
ted Care
The Community Midwifery Team holds clinics for antenatal care. You should make an appointment with a doctor who will refer you to the hospital of your choice through the midwifery team. They will then continue your antenatal care, usually at the Practice and invite you periodically to see your GP. Taking folic acid one month prior to conception and for the first three months afterwards is recommended.
Cervical Smears
It is recommended that all female patients between the ages of 25 and 64 have regular smear tests. We have a system to ensure patients get a letter at the right time. Smear tests are carried out by doctors and the Practice Nurse during normal surgery hours. It would be helpful if you could let the Practice know that you are booking an appointment for a smear.
The result of your smear test is posted out to the address we hold for you on computer, unless you tell us otherwise. Results should be received within 6 weeks. If you have not received a letter within 8 weeks, please ring the surgery.
Diabetic Clinic
Dr Campbell provides a regular diabetic clinic. A specialist diabetic nurse, podiatrist and dietitan are also available at this clinic.
Family Planning/Contraceptive Services
A variety of services are available by appointment with a doctor. Please telephone for advice or to book an appointment regarding emergency contraception. For fitting of a coil (IUCD), or a subcutaneous contraceptive implant (Nexplanon), please contact one of the female doctors.
Health Surveillance
All patients between the ages of 16 and 75 who have not attended the surgery in the preceding three years, can request and will receive an appropriate health check.
Influenza Vaccination
Influenza vaccinations are each winter , usually from October until February. It is advised for those 65 or over and patients in special risk groups. These include heart, kidney, chest problems or diabetes. Carers registered with the Practice are also offered the vaccination. Ask at Reception for details during September.
